Crazy Day in Peniche

Today started out very relaxing.  We took our time having breakfast, took our showers and drove down to the beach to look for shells.

These two pics are for Jaclyn and Alex.  These guys were playing soccer!!

When we arrived back at the car, we discovered this:

In just that short time someone had broken the driver's side window.  I had left my purse in the locked car.  Nothing was taken.  Pretty stupid on my part.  I think someone saw them and scared them off.  We borrowed a strangers phone to call the police.  They came and told us we had to drive into town to file a report.  Got a little lost, but finally found the station.  This is it and our two helpful policemen--took them an hour and a half to type up the report.

We promptly bought a cheap phone for emergencies and to call Hertz.  We drive back to Lisbon tomorrow to get a new car.  Hope it doesn't rain tonight.

Also, bought a new Garmin.  The one we bought when we were with Carole and Ken was for Central Europe!  I brought it thinking it would work here.  Soooo, now we have 3.  One for Southern Europe, one for the U.S. and one for Central Europe.  Anytime you all want to borrow one let me know!  Cheez.

Country of contrasts

We took a walk this afternoon-- it is only a block from the apartment.  Wanted to show you the two sides of a small fort on a narrow point.  Each side so different from the other. Tomorrow we pack and clean.  Monday we move to a new place for a week.  It is called Sesimbra and is located south of Lisbon on the Atlantic.  The picture of the apartment shows a balcony overlooking the ocean.  We shall see!!  (No pun intended) Then the following Tuesday we fly back to the Good 'Ole USA!!!!!

South

Drove South today.  Again we went off road.  We seem to have better luck finding neat things. More coastline, but each spot seems a little different. Ended up in a town called Lourinha where they were having a festival/market.  Walked around for a while  And drove "home"

Itinerary

The last 3 months have been pretty hectic at our house.  We have had tons of company--all of whom we enjoyed immensely.  During that time, Jim became ill with double vision and A-Fib.  He was in the hospital twice.  He still has the double vision and the A-Fib was brought under control with a procedure called a cryoablation.  We both decided it was time for a change of scenery!  So, with the doctors' permission, we planned a two month trip to Europe.  I was on the computer a good 14 hours lining up the places to stay and transportation. We leave this Sunday, April 30, from the Port of Tampa on the NCL's Jade for a repositioning cruise to England. 5/1/17       Key West 5/2/17       Miami 5/3--5/9    6 days at sea 5/9            Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal 5/10          At sea 5/11          At sea 5/12    ...
